Charcoal Drawing (Ages 10-13)

Charcoal is one of the most forgiving and flexible drawing mediums. It is a perfect way to introduce drawing, especially to younger artists who are still refining their fine motor skills. Charcoal also incorporates the things that make drawing exciting, like big shapes, fun ways to use an eraser, and satisfying shading.

Starting with simple and engaging exercises, students will get know the ins-and-outs of using charcoal. The sessions will also introduce individual and group drawing projects that will help students grow their observational and creative skills. Every student will walk away with a grasp of charcoal and several drawing principles to help jump-start their artistic journey.

Join teacher Adam Kenney, who has a BFA in Studio Art and an MFA in Digital Art. He is an adjunct professor at Seattle Pacific University, where he is teaching oil painting, color, and two-dimensional art and design.

This class meets on January 10, 17, and 24 from 10:00-10:50am at the Issaquah Community Center. No experience necessary. All supplies and materials provided by Happy Time Studio.

Cost: $80-$96
