Adam Kenney

Name some artists that have influenced you: I'm probably most enamored with John Singer Sargent, at the moment. I enjoy Edward Hopper's paintings, as well as Van Gogh's. My professor Laura Lasworth had an impact on my work and artistic thinking. As a child, I was always in awe of Norman Rockwell.

Share an artistic accomplishment you are proud of: I was proud to have a solo exhibit of my work at the Nickerson Studios at Seattle Pacific University, most especially because of the joy it brought the staff and students of that building.

Why do you teach art? I teach art because it gives me an opportunity to share ideas with students and see how they take those ideas and run with them. Art brings satisfaction for the maker and thoughtfulness to the viewer. It's a wonderful thing to share in.

Adam lives in Issaquah with his wife Amber and daughter Cora. He has his BFA in Studio Art and an MFA in Digital Art. He is an adjunct professor at Seattle Pacific University, where he is teaching oil painting, color, and two-dimensional art and design. When he isn't thinking about and creating art, he can be found playing with his family and enjoying a board game with friends. The Pacific Northwest landscape has a large influence on his work and getting outdoors is something that always feeds his soul.
